What reasons explain the fascination of Zen in the Western world? Are they the same ones that have kept this secular tradition alive in Asian countries?

Following the path of Zen mainly means meditating in the lotus position and quietly breathing deeply and calmly. Surely, the first question that arises when faced with this is: what do you meditate on? And for what purpose? In other words: what does one who practices zazen do? What benefits do they hope to obtain? We can also ask ourselves: what is the purpose of koans, those enigmas posed by the masters to the disciples, which defy the laws of rationality? And yet: why try to draw a circle with a single brushstroke?

Iconoclast, irreverent, complex and at the same time radically simple, Zen avoids being classified or circumscribed because one of the aspects that it most clearly highlights is that, to really understand something, it is necessary to experience it for yourself.
